The Selkie’s Revenge

October 23, 2017

Cold-blooded murder
brought her back from the sea
to shed skin, dance over
dying embers of autumn days

to roar revenge like winter
into face of rock that heard
crack of bone as they came,
one by one, lured like lemmings

by her song, taken from shoulders
of cliff out into black brine
on angry tides, buried deep
as unwanted treasure.
